Ruh-Ro

I was really disappointed by this. Her dream of having a nighttime variety show didn't quite hit the mark, did it?

I think having it in a giant theater was probably a little overdone, but at least there weren't any empty seats. And even though she kept touching her belly (girl, take it from me...don't touch your fat) I thought she looked really good. Very old Hollywood glam. I like it when she gets all made up like a drag queen.

Except....

It all just seemed a little vaudevillian for my tastes. Actually, it seemed about 10 years past it's best before date. I'd rather see her do a sit down show like Jon Stewart. That's where she could really do something.

Ro Ro, it's too late to bring back the Queen of Nice. She abdicated a long time ago.

  1. I totally agree, but I fault the writers. I expect MUCH more from Seth Rudetsky. And what the Hell is Hunter Foster doing writing?!? Tell that boy to close the laptop, get his cute ass back on stage and SING!

But you know, being a big fan of variety shows from my youth, they were rarely great. Most of them were severely sucky with moments of brilliance. I'm going to give Rosie a chance to perfect it. It'll never be the Captain & Tenille Show, though. :)

I did, however, LOVE Kathy Griffin's imitation of Nancy Grace. I don't think the audience got it but it was Hi-Larious!!!!

  2. If it actually airs again, I cannot imagine I'll watch... but who knows... train wrecks can be fun.

  4. I didn't have a chance to see it, so I was hoping to catch it next week. Well, supposedly it's already been cancelled due to poor ratings. I love Rosie, but OUCH, that's gotta hurt.

  5. My friend Derek and I watched at my place. We were excited for it. And then it started.

    Oh my.

I too grew up with and am a fan of the variety show.

    This was a dud.

  6. Ouch. She needs help to recover from all her disasterous PR as of late. The show didn't help.

    At all.
