By now, you've all heard about Carole and Bill Moore's dreadful, hate-filled little inn, the Whitebriar Bed & Breakfast in Edgewater Park, New Jersey. If not, allow me to Reader's Digest the story for you:A local mom, Joianne Fraschilla who also happens to be a lesbian, drove by the Whitebriar and spotted this sign outside:
Naturally, she was deeply affected and wrote this simple message on the Whitebriar B&B Facebook page:
"This is somewhere my son loves to pass by and we have been excited to visit. Not anymore. I'm sad to see a local business anti LGBT marriage."
Carole Moore, who clearly doesn't get the whole point of social networking, felt it necessary to respond to Joianne and wrote the following:
Isn't it wonderful Joanne Fraschilla, that you and your son can enjoy the animals here because I have a traditional marriage with a husband who works with me 90 hours a week to take care of these animals, and the summer camp....we're 66-68 years old....there were no gays or queers in our time.....if two old ladies chose to live together..so be it, let them deal with God when they get there...but to have the "face sucking" thrown in my face of two gay lesbians who are totally destroying the "normal balance in a child's life" as you claim your son...where is the role model that your son needs to know how to act like a man? or will he only see the "one sided selfishness" of a "single parent"...and end up an out cast in society by being "gay" himself because he didn't have a father as a role model. I'll pray for you....remember what the bible says: "Lay down with dogs, get up with fleas".....guess that's why God invented aids....THIS LOCAL BUSINESS WILL BE ONE MAN ONE WOMAN ONE GOD MAKES MARRIAGE....AND PROUD TO DO SO...."
I just love "Christian" hate, don't you? Well, the whole world has blown up on the Whitebriar, including yours truly. I signed the petition for a formal apology, I wrote to the Moore's via their website, AND I wrote on their Facebook page.
Here's what I wrote directly to them (NOTE: I started the letter off generically and with a white lie so as to catch them off guard):
"Oh, hello Carole and Bill...
My good friend who lives in Brooklyn NY directed me to your site to ask for my thoughts on having her wedding party stay at your B&B this Autumn. When I Googled your inn, I came across quite a bit of controversy, of which you don't need me to remind you of.
My friend is a woman; she is marrying a man. I am a man; I am married to a man.
How sad that someone so young (yes, I think 66 is young) can be so misinformed. That's your right, I suppose, to be ignorant of the world around you and the amazing people in it. That forgiveness is shattered when you suggest that our beautiful, all-loving, and merciful God CREATED AIDS to punish people. You are aware that gay people are not the only ones who are at risk of becoming infected, aren't you? Of course you're not. Just so you know, the highest at risk group are HETEROSEXUAL WOMEN -- just like you.
Furthermore, your little biblical "lie down with dogs" reference? It's incorrect. It doesn't say that ANYWHERE in the bible. Your minister may have said it, but that's about as close to the truth as your reference can get. In fact, it's origins date back to the late 1500's/early 1600's, a few years (I'm guessing) AFTER the Bible was allegedly written. So, I guess anything you have to say is actually irrelevant and hardly worthwhile!
By the way, I won't be recommending your hateful little backwoods inn to my friend.
You can thank God for finding a way to take money out of your pockets and resulting in needing to work 120 hour work weeks to make up for it.
May MY Lord have mercy on your souls."
